Sunshine Pyynikki

Pirkankatu 9 & Pirkankatu 18

Sunshine Pyynikki daycare and kindergarten are small and cosy units offering an almost home-like learning environment for the children. There are a variety of play areas and activities to choose from. The groups’ daily programmes combine the use of structure and routine with opportunities for free choice and exploration.

ABOUT

Wonderful location for learning and fun

The Pyynikki area of Tampere city centre is a wonderful location for an early education centre. We have everything near us: the library, theatres, museums, Pyynikki forest, gym halls etc. Our groups are regular visitors to different places in the city. The short walk to the forest gives plenty of opportunities for us to explore with the children and they love to play there also. In the winter-time there are ice-skating rinks close to us, and Sunshine children are often seen practicing their ice-skating skills on the ice.

Sunshine Pyynikki is also in the neighbourhood of the Finnish International School of Tampere (FISTA) where most of the children from Sunshine continue to preschool and primary education. The location is especially practical for those families who have older children in FISTA.

Pyynikki is our oldest location – this is where it all started around 25 years ago. Sunshine Pyynikki is located in two separate buildings with a total of 49 places for children.

Groups

Based on guardians’ work commitments it is possible to offer flexibility with the opening hours between 06:00 and 18:00. The earlier opening and later pick up times must always be agreed beforehand with the daycare manager. Please contact the daycare manager for more information.

ABOUT

Welcoming atmosphere

In our daily activities the children are normally divided into small groups. Children’s ideas, interests and developmental needs guide the planning of the days. Music and singing, rhyming and stories are a part of every day at Sunshine. The groups also go out to play at the nearby playgrounds daily.

We encourage the parents and guardians to give us feedback, share their ideas and also to take part in our activities. We have had parents visiting us to tell the children about the culture of their home country or to read stories to the children. Sometimes we have also been invited for a visit to a parent’s workplace. The welcoming atmosphere in our early educations centres brings together families and cultures from all over the world.
